Situated in the Scottish Highlands, 7 miles from Inverness, The Coach House offers a unique setting nestling below beech woods beside a quiet country road. All our bedrooms have a view across the Moray Firth looking towards the Cairngorm mountains. Being a small retreat house with a maximum of six guests we are able to offer the kind of hospitality that allows each person to feel ‘at home’. “It is a wonderfully nurturing and healing place ... I always come away feeling restored.”
The Coach House opened in 1992 as a result of a shared vision held by Ursula Burton and Joyce Ferne. Their dream was for a place where everyone would feel welcome and accepted; a safe place for individuals in which to explore profound questions about God, life and themselves ; a place in which to rest, be nurtured and restored.
“We wanted to create a home environment enablingthose who stay to ‘ come home to themselves’ in thebeauty and silence of this place.”
As well as retreats we also offer workshops and other events on our programme for those wishing to take another step forward in personal or professional development. We welcome people from all faith traditions or none.
We live in challenging and rapidly changing times in which it is easy to be swept into anxiety, grief or despair. Yet at the centre of each of us is a space of peace and calm which knows all is well. Times of retreat enable us to reconnect with this space, sense again the boundless love that is within and around us, and rekindle a vision for the next steps on our life’s journey.
